Tragic Diagnosis: Erika Diarte-Carr, a 33-year-old single Utah mother, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just three months to live.

Family Left Behind: She has two young children, Jeremiah (7) and Aaliyah (5), for whom she is now raising money. 

Discovery of Cancer: In May 2022, during a hospital visit for shoulder pain, Diarte-Carr was diagnosed with Stage 4 small cell lung carcinoma. 

Cancer Spread: The cancer had metastasized to other parts of her body, including her skeletal system, worsening her condition. 

Cushing Syndrome: In January 2023, she was also diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome, which led to further health issues like weight gain, muscle deterioration, and Type 2 diabetes. 

Unable to Work: Due to her declining health, Diarte-Carr had to stop working, leaving her without savings or life insurance. 

Final Decision: After learning treatments were ineffective, Diarte-Carr chose to discontinue them and spend her remaining time with her children. 

Funeral Planning: She began planning her own funeral and launched a GoFundMe to raise $5,000 for funeral expenses and support her children. 

Overwhelming Support: The GoFundMe campaign has raised over $1 million, exceeding her initial goal. 

Trust Fund for Kids: All extra funds will go into a trust for her children to ensure their future well-being.
