Hezbollah Vows Retaliation Against Israel for Pager Explosions

Overview Hezbollah threatens retaliation after pager explosions across Lebanon kill 9 people and wound nearly 3,000, including an 8-year-old girl.

Simultaneous Explosions The explosions happened almost simultaneously, with the devices targeting Hezbollah members, causing chaos and thousands of injuries.

Rising Tensions This incident risks further escalating tensions in the Middle East, following Israel’s recent conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Israel Blamed CNN reports the attack was a joint operation by Israel’s Mossad and military. Israel has not commented, but Iran condemned it as "Israeli terrorism."

Pager Details The pagers were AR-924 models from Gold Apollo, distributed by Hungary-based BAC Consulting KFT. Taiwan has no record of them being shipped to Lebanon.

Explosion Mechanics Explosives were planted next to the battery in each pager, with a remote detonation switch, as reported by the New York Times.

Iranian Ambassador Wounded Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, and two embassy employees were injured in the blast. Amani sustained superficial injuries and is under hospital observation.

Medical Response Jordan has offered medical assistance to Lebanon. Hospitals are overwhelmed, treating thousands, with around 200 in critical condition.

Flights Suspended In response to the escalating situation, Air France and Lufthansa have halted flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut at least through Thursday.
